“The new SIE course is fantastic. You have the essentials and advanced content, which gives the necessary deeper understanding of each issue.”
“I have thought many times how MUCH time/talent this took for you/team to do this! I have communicated to several people that I really like your voice and the organization that the videos bring! Along with the tips regarding the exam you give throughout the video.”
If your firm is covering the cost of the exam, they can enroll you through the FINRA CRD system. To sign up for the exam on your own, please go to www.finra.org/industry/enroll-for-sie and click the red "Enroll for SIE" button to follow the prompts and sign up for the exam.
On the morning of your exam, plan on arriving at the testing center at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled start time. You should bring with you government issued identification (e.g. driver's license or passport). Make sure the last name on your I.D. is the same as your exam confirmation. Also make sure you don't bring expired I.D. You will be required to leave all your personal articles in a locker outside the testing room. The testing center will provide you with a scratch pad, a pen or marker, and a basic four function calculator. You are not permitted to bring anything else into the actual testing room.
There is no break during the exam. You are permitted to use the bathroom, but the clock will not stop.
You should plan on completing about 1000 practice questions online, plus the pdf exams, prior to taking the exam. If your scores are not within passing range at that point, you may need to complete more questions.
If you come to class having read the material you should give yourself about one week to complete practice exams after the conclusion of the program before taking the examination. If you have not read the material before coming to class you will need more time after class ends.
Most students are able to finish the exam within the allotted time, without being rushed.
Though it is not mandatory to read the material before coming to class, doing so will enable you to reinforce the concepts discussed in the book. If you have not read the material prior to class you will need more time after class to prepare before you take the examination.
Assuming you are working full time while preparing for the examination, you should allow yourself two to three weeks to read through the material and another one to two weeks to complete practice exams. You should attend the live class, watch the online video lectures or receive private instruction while you are reading the material or immediately after reading the material. The total study time is typically three to five weeks.
