FINRA Chooses Prometric for Exam Delivery

FINRA has announced an exclusive exam delivery relationship with Prometric beginning January 1, 2018.  This relationship applies to all FINRA exams worldwide.

The final date for exam candidates to take FINRA exams at Pearson Vue testing centers is December 31, 2017.

Alignment with a single exam delivery provider will help ensure consistency of the testing experience and streamlined administration.  However,  there may be fewer exam locations available to candidates, and it may become more difficult to schedule exams on short notice.

Exam Scheduling Best Practices

Below are several of reminders to help ensure a smooth exam scheduling experience.

  • Prometric offers ezSeat, a web-based, self-serve tool that allows financial institutions to block a bulk number of seats for specific exams months in advance, throughout the entire test center network. Firms can then assign the blocked seats to individual candidates closer to the exam date.  Bulk registration requests are processed within 24-48 hours of receipt.
  • Requests for special accommodations should be planned well in advance. The first step is submission of the Special Accommodations Verification Request to FINRA. The condition necessitating the request must be verified by a licensed professional.  Allow about 2 to 3 days for turnaround from FINRA. After FINRA approval, the test center must be contacted for an appointment to facilitate the special accommodation.  It is important to note that it may require 10 business days to prepare for appointments scheduled with these accommodations.
  • Exams can be rescheduled without charge if canceled or rescheduled more than 10 business days before the appointment. A charge of ½ of the exam fee applies to reschedules/cancellations between three and 10 business days prior to the exam date, and the full fee is charged if the reschedule/cancellation occurs within 2 business days of the exam date.
